About

I created Homes Scholars of Boston while homeschooling my own daughter, now a student at Boston Latin School. I offer classes for homeschoolers and services for their parents. Check out my list of course offerings. I also offer individualized tutoring, curriculum design, lesson planning, and parent consulting.

With over twenty years’ experience teaching, tutoring, designing curriculum, and consulting, I have a B.S.  in Human Services from Springfield College of Human Services and a Master’s Degree in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, where I had a dual focus in Human Development and Psychology along with Arts in Education. Teaching is one of my passions and homeschooling my daughter and now son is  one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I strive to foster a love of learning and self discovery in my students.

As a married mother of three, I have homeschooled both my son and daughter and have been a lifelong advocate for my adult, autistic son’s educational rights. I have experience working with children of all abilities and am well-versed in the structure and terminology of Individualized Educational Plans. I am aware of Massachusetts Common Core grade level expectations and work much of these concepts into my classes when appropriate and reasonable.

In my spare time I enjoy creative writing, running, swimming, and
competing in the occasional 10K or triathlon. In my younger years, I was a performance artist and created several plays and one woman shows, which I performed in venues throughout the country. I remain active in a local poetry group. My poems were chosen as winners by the Boston Poet Laureate in the 2014, 2016,  2017 and 2018 Mayor’s Poetry and Prose Program and have been displayed on the walls at Boston City Hall. Two of my poems, Dot Girl and Vodka, Beer, and Cigarettes are published in City of Notions: An Anthology of Contemporary Boston Poems (July, 2017), which also includes work by Elizabeth Alexander, Julia Alvarez, Margaret Atwood, Nick Flynn, Mary Oliver, and others.
